Secrete Meeting With Nova Scotia Government

... Business Community, Unions, and the Nova Scotia Workers Compensation Board .

The Economic Impact of Improving the Health and Safety of Nova Scotia's Workforce: a novaknowledge Report Card Health - "If Nova Scotia were a person, she would be in desperate shape!" Injury Prevention - "An Epidemic of Epic Proportions" Return to Work - "The earlier an injured worker can return safely to work, the better the individual's prognosis for recovery.

" Why did novaknowledge tackle this topic with a Knowledge Economy Report Card? Compared to the average Canadian, a Nova Scotian weighs more, and is more likely to be diagnosed with cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

She is also more likely to suffer from a mental health condition, more likely to smoke, consumer high levels of alcohol, engage in less physical activity, and eat a less nutritious diet. Our economic, productivity, and competitiveness potential are diminished by her lower income, higher likelihood to be unemployed, greater chance of being injured in the workplace and off longer, increased risk to receive permanent impairment benefits, plus she is less likely to have education beyond high school.

Maybe there should be a teaching process , that tells the story about injured workers who are being mentally abused by the parties holding this meeting?

What can leaders from government, business, unions, education, and community organizations do to improve our prognosis?
